So-me liked it when La-me played space games.
He knew that soon La-me would half close his eyelids, roll his eyes upwards
and go
Whoosh

So-me wasn't sure why La-me did this. Perhaps it was his rocket blasting
off! At least he knew no to disturb him by asking questions at such
important times.

All So-me could think of doing to help was try to wink his right eye and
whistle.
La-me was not impressed.
"Captain La-me to Crew," said a stern voice from the controls of the space
ship.

So-me knew La-me was about to give him orders. It always happened that way.
La-me was always Captain, So-me was always Crew.

"Today¹s flight takes us deep into the solar system."

The space ship shuddered as part of a meteorite struck the fuselage.
"Meteorite ahead! It's heading for earth."

"Destroy it before it destroys our planet," said the Captain.
So-me pointed his laser at the meteorite, took aim, and gave his target full
blast.

"Crew to Captain, meteorite destroyed."

So-me liked flying in space. "Solar So-me," he thought to himself, "the
brave pilot of the skies."
He turned on the rocket¹s radio and heard....

So-lar So-me flies in space
So-lar So-me he's an ace

"Make note of that earth message,"
said Captain La-me.

So-me wrote part of the message
in code so that it would be hard to read if they were captured.
He remembered s-m for So-me and l-m for La-me, so he wrote:
s-l s-m flies in space
s-l s-m he's an ace

Captain La-me looked at the message. "Can you make the code even harder to
understand?"
"We could have soh and me in spaces instead of on lines. And we could use
real notes."
So-me wrote again:
(music notes)
"But will it be the same message?" said the Captain.
"Sure, and nobody will ever be able to work it out."

"Shall we change course for Mars?" suggested So-me.
La-me thought about this for a while before replying. "Mars? Ma's!? Mum
will be waiting for us! We¹ll get a rocket if we don't hurry!"
They picked up their schoolbags and raced home.
