These
entertaining PBS videos have received
many excellent reviews! Each video
presents the composer’s music
in the context of a fictional story
involving a young child. These
videos are an excellent way to
introduce
children to the lives of the composers!
Listen to excerpts from the music
of these composers in the Listening
Resource Kits. Teachers are permitted
to show these in school.
- Handel’s Last Chance is
set in Dublin where Handel is struggling
to rebuild his career writing “Messiah”.
- Strauss: The King of
3/4 Time. Strauss helps
a young abused stable boy to
deal with a difficult situation.
- Liszt’s Rhapsody Liszt
finds new meaning in his life teaching
a young gypsy violinist.
- Rossini’s Ghost explores
the first performance of the Barber
of Seville. My classes loved this
introduction to opera.
- Bach’s Fight for
Freedom is set in 1717.
Life working for a Duke in a
castle wasn’t always easy.
